International Comparison of Women’s Body Measurements
In the era of increasing internationalization and global export activities to new markets among other things to Asia and Latin America an exact knowledge of the markets, the peculiarities of the different religions, cultures and mentalities is required. Furthermore as a producer of apparel, also the knowledge of the body measurements of the customers, to whom he wants to sell clothes, is of special importance. Before someone wants to serve new markets with products of high quality the conditions expected on these markets must be examined very closely. In this treatise, it is not only the purpose to compare the German size systems with those of other countries, but it is also the goal, to define the necessary differences of measures and to describe them. Then the results can be transferred correspondingly to the construction of selected clothing.
A dictionary helps, to find the correct definitions
To make the comparison of body measurements easier a dictionary with the most important terms is included.
Charts help to find the corresponding sizes within the European sizing systems.
National measurement charts are the basis for the correct conversion of the patterns and for the grading.
